Our Story

After more than 30 years in finance, I decided it was time to pursue a lifelong passion. As a child, I watched my mum design, sew, and embroider with incredible creativity. She could imagine a design in her head, sketch flowers onto fabric, then bring them to life with vibrant stitching. I loved watching her transform simple materials into beautiful works of art, and she remains my greatest inspiration.

My first serious project was a two-piece outfit for a friend’s 18th birthday, designed and made entirely from scratch without a pattern. Since then, I’ve taught myself to follow patterns and have created a wide range of garments, along with curtains, cushions, bedspreads, and other soft furnishings. I also knit—though I’ll admit a little secret: I’ve been “working” on the same red scarf for years and only pick it up at Christmas! Crazy, right?

In 2019, after completing a contract as a Finance Project Manager, I found myself out of work just as Covid arrived. That pause gave me the space to re-evaluate my life and reignite the creative skills I’d left dormant. I decided to expand beyond soft furnishings and began designing and making bags, with the ambition to create a diverse range of handmade items that everyone can enjoy.

Bedrock Creations was born. I had previously attempted to launch a business in 2004 called Bedrock Soft Furnishings, but life took a different turn. This time, I wanted a name that reflected freedom and versatility. Bedrock Creations allows me to be as creative and diverse as I choose, while staying true to my motto: “Building on a firm foundation.”

Although I’ve spent years crunching numbers, I felt it was time to explore what else I could succeed in. Giving myself permission to follow this dream has been incredibly rewarding.
